2 Hurt, 30-Year-Old Man Dies After West Point Crash With Big Rig
WEST POINT, GA โ Two people were injured, and a 30-year-old man passed away following a rear-end crash that also involved a big rig Monday.
The Ledger-Enquier said that the 30-year-old man, driving a black Ford Fusion on GA 103 North (near Flat Shoals Church Road), failed to maintain his lane and drifted into the southbound lanes when he rear-ended a red GMC Yukon pickup truck. Once those vehicles collided, the Yukonย then collidedย head-on with a semi-truck, and the Yukon stopped along the road.ย
Upon arrival, first responders rushed the 30-year-old man, a West Point local, to Piedmont Columbus Regional, where he died.
Medical helicopter personnel, who were also dispatched to the scene, transported the Yukon passenger and big rig motorist to Piedmontโs midtown Columbus hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds.
Georgia State Patrol, who is taking the lead on this investigation, has not released additional information.
