Shortly after the6th Annual KSU Owl Classic mock trial competition, our firm offered to host a short mock trial scrimmage at the Kaufman Law office. The two visiting teams were made up of undergraduate students from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga and the University of Florida. Both teams had recently competed in the mock trial competition and were hoping for some extra practice before returning home.
Case Intake Specialist Mary Loudermilk offered to judge the scrimmage along with the two mock trial teams’ respective coaches. Says Mary, “It was the first time I actually had a moment to sit down and read through the case! I was especially impressed with the University of Florida, who managed to win the scrimmage even though it leaned towards the prosecution. There was not a doubt in my mind that they won.”
Both teams did very well at the Halloween-themed KSU Owl Classic competition prior to the scrimmage. University of Florida’s team, the ‘Black Widows’, and UT-Chattanooga’s team, ‘the Mummies’ both scored four points at the competition. Additionally, they were both voted as Outstanding Trial Teams. Kaufman Law was especially excited to host these two events and looks forward to participating in many more mock trial competitions throughout the Atlanta area.
