1 Critically Hurt, 1 Arrested After Savannah Pursuit-Rear-End Crash
SAVANNAH, GA – A pursuit ended in a rear-end collision that put a driver in critical condition and ended in another person’s arrest Friday morning.
Georgia State Patrol told WTOC that the events unfolded around 2:15 a.m. when the driver of a black Ford Mustang, who they later determined was impaired, had made a U-turn on West Bay Street.
The Mustang driver was speeding, going 14 miles above the speed limit. Two troopers tried to stop the motorist, but they kept driving away, calling for a pursuit. The chase was terminated at the intersection of Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard and West 37th Street, where the Mustang driver hit the back of a Toyota Tacoma. The Toyota driver was thrown from the vehicle and sustained critical, life-threatening wounds.
The Ford Mustang driver got out of the car, and troopers arrested them. GSP said the intoxicated driver also had Marijuana. No formal criminal charges were announced. An investigation was started.
