1 Hospitalized, 1 Dead After Tunnel Hill Pursuit-Crash With Guardrail
TUNNEL HILL, GA – A 22-year-old man fleeing from police lost his life when he crashed his car into a guardrail, claiming his life and sending his passenger to a hospital Tuesday.
The events unfolded near mile marker 342 when Georgia State Patrol (GSP) tried to pull over the 22-year-old man, a Dalton resident, for speeding, going at a rate of 11mph, Fox5Atlanta said. The Dalton resident refused to stop and kept going, prompting a pursuit.Â
The chase only came to an end when the young man’s black 2015 Infiniti Q50 slammed into a guardrail, which caused the car to overturn before coming to rest. Once the crash occurred, the 22-year-old man died, while his passenger, a 30-year-old man, was sent to Chattanooga’s Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, where he is recovering from serious, life-threatening injuries.
GSP launched an investigation and has not released other information pertaining to this fatal wreck.
