2 Killed in Fiery Plane Wreck in Lafayette
LAFAYETTE, GA – Two people lost their lives in a fiery plane crash that happened near Barwick La Fayette Airport-9A5 around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
For reasons unclear, the Cirrus SR22 airplane started descending from the sky, Fox 5 Atlanta said. The pilot tried to land the plane safely and crashed it. The plane caught on fire, and two people inside died.
The Federal Aviation Administration did not specify whether it was two passengers or a pilot and passenger who died, nor did they say if the plane was experiencing technical issues.
FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are working to pinpoint the exact cause of the crash.
