7 rushed to trauma center after multi-vehicle crash on I-16 near Pembroke

BULLOCH COUNTY, GA – As many as seven people were injured in a multi-vehicle wreck last Friday evening, June 14, that closed part of Interstate 16 near Pembroke, reports Grice Connect.

The collision took place on the eastbound highway at Exit 132 to Ash Branch Church Road at around 7:30 p.m. Bulloch County Sheriff’s Deputies, Georgia State Police, and Georgia Department of Transportation officials were all on the scene shortly after.

Details are limited, but officials said a school bus was among the vehicles involved, and multiple ambulances and medical helicopters were requested at the scene, where Bulloch County Fire crews were helping to extract victims from their vehicles.

Two patients were transported by Bryan County EMS personnel in separate ambulances to Memorial Medical in Savannah, where one patient was transported by Lifestar, and four other patients were transported by Bulloch EMS in three ambulances.

An investigation is being led by Georgia State Patrol Post 45 troopers with assistance from the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT).
