9 MARTA bus passengers left hurt after crash with car off I-20 in downtown Atlanta
ATLANTA, GA – A car collided with a MARTA bus Monday afternoon off Interstate 20 in downtown Atlanta, leaving at least nine passengers injured, reports WSB-TV Atlanta 2.
According to spokesperson with the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), the incident occurred just off the I-20 exit ramp near Ted Turn Drive Southwest and Whitehall Street, in the South Downtown neighborhood.
Preliminary details show a driver veered off the ramp and crashed into the bus, prompting a response from MARTA Police Department officers and paramedics.
At least nine people from the bus were transported to a local hospital for unspecified injuries. It’s unclear whether the driver or any passengers in the striking car were hurt.
No information regarding potential charges has been disclosed.
