Collision closes lane on northbound I-85 near Braselton

JACKSON COUNTY, GA – Authorities were dispatched to a crash Wednesday morning on Interstate 85 near Braselton, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The accident, which occurred on the northbound lanes of I-85 past Winder Highway (Highway 53), was first reported shortly before 6:22 a.m.

Although the events leading up to the collision have not been made public, the far left lane was blocked. An image captured by a GDOT camera shows at least one police vehicle responding to the scene, where a passenger vehicle appears to have come to rest facing the opposite direction in the left shoulder. It’s unclear whether another vehicle was involved.

By 6:44 a.m., nearly 15 minutes before the estimated clearance time, officials announced that all lanes were re-opened to traffic.

No injuries or hospitalizations were immediately reported.
