2 sent to hospital after suspected DUI crash involving car hauler near Cartersville
BARTOW COUNTY, GA – A passenger was ejected when a car struck a commercial motor vehicle Saturday near southeast Cartersville, according to WSB-TV Atlanta 2.
Georgia State Patrol troopers responded to the scene on southbound Interstate 75 near mile marker 281.
Officials say a driver was under the influence when their 2015 Audi A6 collided with a 2023 Kenworth CMV car hauler. The impact of the crash caused the Audi to lose control before it slammed into a guardrail, throwing a passenger from the car.
GSP said both occupants of the Audi were transported to a local hospital, but no other information about the patients’ conditions has been disclosed.
Two lanes of the southbound highway were shut down for about an hour as crews worked to clear the scene. The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office said that another accident on I-75 between mile markers 283 and 288 also had lanes closed in both directions.
No charges have been reported at this time.
