Accident closes section of westbound East-West Connector in NE Austell
COBB COUNTY, GA – Authorities were called to a collision Monday afternoon on the East-West Connector near Wellstar Cobb Medical Center in northeast Austell, according to Cobb County DOT.
The wreck occurred on the westbound lanes at the intersection with South Hospital Way, west of Austell Road. It was first reported shortly before 2:44 p.m.
While officials have not specified the cause or nature of the accident, a traffic cameras captured front-end damage to at least one passenger vehicle. In the same image, another car appears to have come to rest off the roadway, in a grassy area in front of a business.
It’s unclear at this time whether anyone was seriously hurt, but at least one fire engine was seen responding to the scene.
By 3:14 p.m., about 30 minutes after the initial X post from Cobb County DOT, the scene was reported cleared.
