Woman, 29, Fatally Struck by Hit-And-Run Truck, School Bus in Decatur
DECATUR, GA – A 29-year-old woman lost her life when she was hit by a pickup truck, which fled the scene, and a DeKalb County school bus on Columbia Drive Thursday.
This collision took place around 6:40 a.m., and DeKalb County Police said the suspect’s vehicle is either white or gray, WSBTV said. While the truck year and model remains unconfirmed, a female citizen, who discovered the deceased woman’s body speculated that the model is a Toyota Tundra, claiming to the news source that she saw the hit-and-run vehicle (leave) “with the reverse lights on.” The suspect, whose description was not provided, is being sought by police.
While the hit-and-run suspect is set to face criminal charges once found, the bus driver (who had no bus passengers at the time) is spared from any charges, since they remained on scene at the time of the wreck.
Anyone with more information about this deadly collision is asked to contact police right away.
Reader’s Note: While the driver’s and citizen’s names were mentioned by the DeKalb County Police Department and the initial news source, our team has adopted a no-name policy with respect to drivers, victims of motor vehicle accidents, personal injury-related incidents, or eyewitnesses to such events. As such, our firm team has chosen not to mention the victim’s name and citizen’s name in this news article.
