Pursuit-Motorcycle Wreck Claims Life of 18-Year-Old Teen in Lee Co.
LEE COUNTY, GA – An 18-year-old female teenager died in a pursuit-turned-motorcycle collision on Forester Parkway on Wednesday, Jan 1.
WALB said the events unfolded when the Georgia State Patrol tried to pull over the motorcycle operator, a 19-year-old man, for speeding. The motorcyclist refused and tried to avoid the stop and instead plowed into a trash can, causing him and the passenger with him, the 18-year-old, to be thrown from the motorcycle.Â
The impact caused the 18-year-old to fall into an unconscious state and, therefore, required aid from paramedics. Upon arrival, EMS crews rushed the 18-year-old teenager, a Lee County High School student, to Phoebe Putney Hospital, where she died.
It is unclear if the motorcyclist was wounded. However, the biker, who is being held at the Lee County Jail, is expected to face numerous charges, some being for vehicular homicide and DUI.
