Woman, Boy Perish in Fiery Crash With Semi in Cuthbert
CUTHBERT, GA – A Toyota Camry caught on fire after colliding with a semi-truck, which led a 64-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy to succumb to their injuries Monday.
WALB said the events unraveled around 8 p.m. when the 64-year-old woman driving the Toyota declined to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of U.S. 27 and GA 126 and was struck by the big rig. Once the vehicles collided, both vehicles veered off the road and crashed into a wooded area.
Georgia State Patrol declared the Toyota occupants, the boy and woman, dead at the scene. Troopers identified the boy as a Pataula Charter Academy student and said the woman was the boy’s grandson.
No injuries were reported for the truck driver.
