Robbery Ends in Deadly Pursuit-Crash in Atlanta’s Buckhead
ATLANTA, GA – A robbery suspect was responsible for causing a pursuit-turned-crash that claimed the life of a 26-year-old man in Buckhead Monday.
DeKalb County police told Atlanta News First that the robbery suspect first pepper sprayed Chick-fil-A employees before taking a full cash register and then speeding off. Atlanta police were called to the scene and tried to pull over the suspect, but they kept driving off.
The suspect ran a red light and then collided with another vehicle driven by the 26-year-old man. This happened at the intersection of Peachtree Road NE and Piedmont Road NE. EMS crews transported the suspect to a nearby hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
DeKalb County police said the suspect vehicle was involved in a Sandy Springs robbery and two Dekalb County robberies.
Georgia State Patrol is leading the investigation and has not disclosed the kind of charges the robbery suspect could face.
Updates, not including the victim’s name, will be added after authorities confirm more details.
