4 Hurt in Fiery Plane Rollover Wreck in Folkston
FOLKSTON, GA – Four people sustained injuries in a fiery plane rollover collision at Davis Field Thursday, First Coast News reports.
The plane had struck the tree around 4:30 p.m., prior to flipping over and catching fire. Authorities said the force of the collision led to a fuel spill and had pinned or entrapped the involved occupants.
Fire crews were able to extricate the plane passengers successfully, and medics transported them to a hospital in Jacksonville. First responders said some individuals sustained serious injuries but did not go into detail regarding the specifics of the lacerations or provide an update on the physical conditions of the involved parties.
Charlton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. While unconfirmed, it’s highly likely that The Federal Aviation Administration will be leading the investigation.
