Left-Turning Car Fatally Strikes Motorcyclist in Macon
MACON, GA – A 40-year-old male motorcyclist lost his life after he was struck by a left-turning pickup truck Tuesday, 13WMAZ said.
The collision happened at 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 247 and Allen Road. Authorities said the driver of the Chevrolet Avalanche truck was coming out of the Marathon gas station parking lot when they collided with the motorcyclist.
EMS crews transported the pickup truck driver, 42, to a hospital while the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Authorities had to shut down Hawkinsville Road, starting at Houston Road to Allen Road, for the scene clearance and investigation period.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the details of the wreck. Anyone with more information about the wreck is asked to contact authorities at the phone number listed in the source.
