Alleged DUI driver fatally strikes woman in Palmetto
PALMETTO, GA – A 64-year-old woman driving a tan Chevrolet Malibu lost her life after she was hit by a pickup truck driver, who was allegedly intoxicated, Saturday.
Georgia State Patrol told 11Alive the events of this crash unfolded before 9 p.m. when the impaired driver, operating a white Ford F250, tried to cross Georgia 14 South (near Tommy Lee Cook Road) and struck the Malibu going north.
After the vehicles collided, the Malibu driver succumbed to fatal wounds at the scene, while the suspected DUI driver was flown via a medical helicopter to Grady Hospital.
