Authorities Respond to Collision on Southbound I-285 in NW Atlanta

FULTON COUNTY, GA – Motorists were alerted to a collision late Friday morning blocking part of Interstate 285 in northwest Atlanta, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).

The accident took place on the southbound highway past Exit 12 to State Route 8/U.S. Route 278/Hollowell Parkway, approaching the city’s Carroll Heights area. It was first reported at about 11:35 a.m.

Details remain limited, but an image captured by traffic cameras show at least one police cruiser responding. A tractor-trailer and a box truck appear to have bee involved, but officials have not released any information about the circumstances behind the incident.

The scene was expected to clear by 12:10 p.m.
