Authorities respond to crash on southbound I-85 near Suwanee

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA – A vehicle wreck Wednesday morning blocked two lanes on Interstate 85 near Suwanee, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).

The accident happened on the southbound highway at mile marker 111.5, past Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. It was first reported by GDOT at 7:45 a.m.

Very few details have been disclosed, but commuters were advised of delays impacting the area, as two right southbound lanes were blocked. Alternate routes were recommended.

While no information regarding potential injuries has been shared, GDOT traffic cameras captured an image at the scene that indicates at least three vehicles, including a work van, were involved. At least two of the involved vehicles appear to have sustained damage.

The scene was originally expected to be cleared by 8:45 a.m., but the estimated clearance time was later revised to 10:00 a.m.
