Car Catches Fire in Six-Vehicle Wreck on I-85 Near Suwanee
GWINNETT COUNTY, GA – Long delays were reported Wednesday afternoon following a fiery multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 85 near Suwanee, according to 11Alive.
Suwanee Police said the series of crashes unfolded on the southbound lanes just north of the exit to Lawrence-Suwanee Road. It was first reported shortly before 4:13 p.m.
Very few details have been released to the public, but six vehicles were involved, and at least one car caught fire as a result.
The scene left only the left lane and an HOV lane open. By the time of 11Alive’s update shortly after 4:50 p.m., the accident had been cleared from the roadway and all lanes were reopened to traffic. Despite the clearance, motorists were warned that delays still lingered.
At this time, no major injuries or hospitalizations have been confirmed. It’s unclear whether anyone is expected to be charged or cited.
