Deputy, SUV Driver Injured in I-75 Crash in Atlanta
ATLANTA, GA – A Fulton County deputy driving a patrol car drifted across several I-75 lanes, leading them to strike a Toyota SUV and injuring them and the other driver Tuesday.
Georgia State Patrol (GSP) told 11Alive that they responded to the scene at 5 p.m. They said that once the patrol car and SUV collided, it pushed both vehicles into a wall. Debris from this wreck then struck an on-coming Ford traveling in an HOV lane. However, that driver appeared to have been unharmed.
EMS crews rushed the SUV motorist and deputy to a hospital, where they are recovering.
State Patrol has not confirmed why or what caused the patrol car to go from the fifth lane to the second prior to striking the wall.
