Driver runs stop sign, causes T-bone wreck with injuries in Demorest
DEMOREST, GA – A Chevrolet Sonic driver failed to stop at a stop sign, resulting in a T-bone crash with a Dodge Durango, injuring both drivers and a 2-year-old toddler.
This collision happened before 7:45 a.m. Thursday at the Georgia 105 and Smith Loop Road intersection, according to Now Haberham. The source’s photo indicated that the Durango sustained significant front-end damage.
Georgia State Patrol responded to the scene and said the Durango collided with the driver’s side of the Sonic. They also initially indicated that at least one person was entrapped. However, troopers did not confirm if fire crews performed extrication.
First responders did, however, specify that the 2-year-old toddler was a passenger from the Sonic and was transported via a medical helicopter to a children’s hospital in Atlanta, coming from the Habersham County Airport. In addition, ambulances took the drivers to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Troopers did not confirm if the Sonic driver was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign.
