DUI Driver Rear-Ends APD Car, Sending Officer to Hospital
ATLANTA, GA – A Tesla driver, who was allegedly intoxicated, had rear-ended a parked Atlanta Police Department car on I-75, sending the officer to a hospital and ending in the driver’s arrest Monday.
FOX5Atlanta said this collision happened after midnight near Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard. The police cruiser was parked on the road and had sirens and emergency lights on because the driver was responding to a previous crash that happened.
Emergency crews who responded to this crash said the officer is recovering from minor wounds.
Once the Tesla driver, a man, remained at the scene, police conducted a field sobriety test on him, and he admitted to having three alcoholic drinks.
Police had arrested him and booked him into Atlanta City Jail. The Tesla motorist has been charged with “multiple offenses, including DUI, reckless driving, and expired registration.”
