Two lanes are currently blocked to accommodate the fire extinguishing process. Georgia Department of Transportation first announced this incident at 3:46 p.m. and said the scene should clear by 6 p.m.
If commuters want to avoid the standstill traffic, then they may want to consider getting out of those delays by taking Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and then go downtown.
Firefighters and other first responders have not specified if the fire resulted from a crash or mechanical issues. In addition, it is unclear if anyone was injured or would need to go to a hospital.
