Grandmother, Grandchild Lose Lives in Sr-27 Crash in Jessup
JESSUP, GA – A 58-year-old woman and her grandchild, a minor, tried to cross SR-27 when they collided with a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, which claimed both of their lives Tuesday.
Georgia State Patrol arrived at the scene after 5:40 p.m. and confirmed with WTOC, the initial source, that they will be working with Jessup police on this investigation.Â
Preliminary details from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office indicated that the victims were two juveniles, but city police later confirmed it was the woman and her grandchild, whom she had custody of.
The other driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Officials did not specify if they were injured or hospitalized.
It is unclear who was at fault and what contributing factors were behind this wreck. Specific details with respect to the exact cause of this crash will be added in an updated news blog as more information becomes available.
