Head-on wreck in Gainesville claims 63-year-old man’s life
GAINESVILLE, GA – A 63-year-old man died after driving east on westbound GA 53 and colliding head-on with a GMC Acadia along Ingles Markets Saturday.
According to WSB-TV, after the GMC and the Honda HR-V (driven by the 63-year-old man) collided, the Acadia overturned, and a driver of a Toyota Camry (a 21-year-old man) going behind the Acdia veered off the road to avoid the initial collision.
The Camry driver was unharmed, while the Acadia driver (a 52-year-old man) and his wife were hospitalized for minor wounds.
Georgia State Patrol suspects that impairment was a contributing factor but has not confirmed
this fact or commented on the events that led to this collision.
