Male Pedestrian Dies After Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash in Downtown Atlanta
ATLANTA, GA – A 71-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle that fled the scene early Sunday, May 18, in downtown Atlanta, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
The fatal incident was reported at the corner of Peachtree Street Northwest and Baker Street Northwest. By 6:44 a.m., Atlanta Police had already responded to the scene, where they found the victim in the crosswalk, unresponsive.
Officials say the man was using the crosswalk to travel across the road when he was hit by a black sedan whose driver continued away without stopping.
First responders pronounced the male pedestrian deceased at the scene.
An investigation remains underway with the Atlanta Police Department’s Accident Investigations Unit.
