Man, 66, Dies When Car Hits Semi in Vidalia
VIDALIA, GA – A 66-year-old man driving a Nissan Altima got trapped underneath a semi-truck and died after proceeding through a stop sign and crashing into the truck Saturday.
This collision happened before 2 p.m. at the junction of Highway 15 and Lyons Center Road, WTOC reports. The Toombs County Sheriff’s Office said the driver of the semi-truck, Justin Rodgers, tried to brake and went into the opposite lanes to avoid the collision with the car. However, both vehicles collided, and the 66-year-old, identified as Arthur Lee Sims, perished, while Rodgers escaped injuries.Â
The impact of this crash also caused the semi-truck to land in a ditch along northbound Highway 15.
Georgia State Patrol started an investigation and has not released additional details at this time.
