Man, 68, Loses Life After Hartwell Chain-Reaction Crash
HARTWELL, GA โ A 68-year-old man lost his life after a chain-reaction collision on GA-77 reported before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Access WDUN said.
The crash happened when the 68-year-old man, driving a 1995 Ford Ranger, rear-ended a 2023 Dodge Ram. The Dodge was pushed forward and collided with the back of a 2021 GMC Yukon XL.
Georgia State Patrol confirmed the Dodge and GMC stopped for traffic in a construction zone. Troopers declared the 68-year-old man from Elberton dead at the scene.
The Elberton man did not wear a seatbelt, which could have played a role in his death. The Dodge motorist was spared from physical harm, while the GMS driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
There were no reports of hospitalizations or intoxication.
