Man Critically Hurt In Clermont Car Vs. Mac Truck Crash
CLEARMONT, GA – A male Kia driver was left in critical condition after colliding head-on with a Mac truck towing a trailer with a cherry picker last Thursday, March 28.
Access WDUN said the Kia driver had suffered a medical scare, which is what led him to lose control of his steering wheel before veering from southbound U.S. 129 and into the northbound lanes. Once the vehicles collided, the truck then crashed into a ditch.
The Kia driver, a 75-year-old Blairsville man, was rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
The truck operator was spared from injuries.
The impact of the wreck did leave a fuel spill, prompting crews to shut down the area for nearly eight hours. All lanes reopened just before 4:30 p.m.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office started an investigation.
