Motorcyclist dies following crash with SUV on GA-101 in Polk County
POLK COUNTY, GA – A 30-year-old man died last Thursday, June 20, when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle on State Route 101 in Polk County, reports WSB-TV Atlanta 2.
Officials have not confirmed the exact location of the fatal wreck, but family friends of the victim said he was coming home from work on a motorcycle to exchange for a car in order to pick up his 6-year-old daughter.
According to Georgia State Patrol, at one point, a southbound Jeep Cherokee made a left turn in the direct path of the motorcyclist, causing him to crash the bike into the Jeep’s right side.
First responders pronounced the male rider deceased at the scene.
GSP troopers said the driver of the Jeep faces charges of “homicide by vehicle in the second degree and failure to yield while turning left.”
