Multiple ambulances respond to fiery crash on southbound I-285 in SE Decatur

DEKALB COUNTY, GA – A multi-vehicle accident early Tuesday afternoon blocked several lanes on Interstate 285 in southeast Decatur, according to WSB-TV Atlanta 2.

The crash occurred on the southbound highway at Glenwood Avenue (Exit 44) and was first reported by WSB-TV just before 12:30 p.m.

Authorities have not disclosed the events leading up to the wreck, but at least one of the involved vehicles caught fire. As many as two travel lanes were shut down as crews worked to clear the vehicles and debris from the roadway.

While it was not immediately clear whether anyone was seriously hurt, a NewsChopper 2 over the scene revealed that a truck had rolled onto its side, and multiple ambulances were seen responding to the area.

A traffic backup had formed back to Spaghetti Junction during the emergency response.
