Off-Duty Motorcycle Deputy Killed in Left-Turn Crash Near Rockmart
NEAR ROCKMART, GA – An off-duty Cobb County motorcycle deputy lost his life, and a pickup truck driver was injured after a crash that happened south of Rockmart Friday.
Preliminary details show that the pickup truck driver tried to turn left from Brushy Mountain Road onto GA 6 when he struck the on-coming motorcycle before 2:45 p.m., 11 Alive said.
The deputy immediately fell from his bike onto the windshield and then plummeted to the ground. He was declared deceased at the scene, while authorities rushed the pickup truck driver to a hospital.
The surviving occupant is recovering from serious injuries.
