Officials Dispatched To Several Wrecks on I-20 in Augusta

AUGUSTA, GA – First responders were summoned to several collisions on I-20 amid snowy and icy weather conditions between 9:20 and 10:30 a.m. Friday. 

WRDW said the first crash took place before  9:30 a.m. on I-20 East along Walton Way. Fire crews were seen rendering aid and investigating the circumstances behind this wreck.  

A second crash took place after 10 a.m. on I-20 just before mile marker 4. The details behind this crash are unclear. However, from what was reported, this collision involved a car carrier. 

A third collision occurred after 10:30 a.m. on the Bobby Jones overpass at the I-520 and I-20 connector, and another one took place on Washington Road. As crews made their rounds and helped as best as they could, one of them reportedly suffered minor injuries in the process. 

No other wounds or lane closures have been reported. Authorities urge the public to proceed with caution and give themselves plenty of time to get to their destinations if they must travel.
