Ohio Man Hospitalized After 2-Semi Collision in Commerce
COMMERCE, GA – A 48-year-old man from Ohio was hospitalized for unspecified injuries following a double semi-truck crash on I-85 South last Wednesday.
Georgia State Patrol told Access WDUN 75 that the collision happened around 6 a.m. They said it was caused by a 32-year-old man from Maryland, who failed to maintain his lane and then rear-ended a parked Freightliner occupied by the Ohio man.
Once the trucks collided, cherries from the Maryland man’s truck fell out and scattered across the right lane and southbound ramp at Exit 149. Crews shut down this area and reopened all lanes just before 10 a.m.
Banks County EMS crews only took the Ohio man to a hospital and confirmed the Maryland man was unharmed.
Troopers cited the Maryland man for failing to maintain a lane.
