Passenger dies when driver rear-ends semi-trailer in Marietta
MARIETTA, GA – A 28-year-old woman, a passenger of a blue 2009 Nissan Altima, had passed away when her driver rear-ended a trailer attached to a 2015 Freightliner Saturday.
Fox5Atalnta said this collision happened before 2:30 a.m. when the semi-driver slowed for traffic on I-75 South north of Delk Road, and the woman did not reduce her speed, thus striking the truck’s second Grant Dane van trailer.
Upon hitting the truck, the car rotated counterclockwise before coming to rest in the fourth and fifth lanes. The Cobb County Police Department declared the 28-year-old woman from Jonesboro deceased at the scene, and an ambulance transported the woman’s driver, a 21-year-old woman from Stone Mountain, to WellStar Kennestone Hospital.
Officers confirmed the truck driver was unharmed but have not released additional details regarding Saturday’s wreck.
