Pedestrians Lose Lives in Athens Collision

ATHENS, GA – A 58-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man, both local to Athens, lost their lives after they were hit by a vehicle while walking along Satterfield Park Tuesday. 

The crash took place at the intersection of Gaines School Road and Lexington Road, according to Now Habersham. Upon arrival, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department declared the woman dead at the scene, and EMS transported the male pedestrian to a nearby hospital, where he later lost his life. 

Police charged the driver, from Bogart, with “second-degree vehicular homicide and two counts of failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.” 

The police department urges the public to contact them if they have any more information about the crash.
