Pickup Truck Rear-Ends Big Rig in Eatonton, Killing 3 People
EATONTON, GA – Three people lost their lives after a driver of a pickup truck with an attached trailer rear-ended a big rig along Lake Sinclair Thursday.
The collision took place before 10 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 441 and Twin Bridges Road, according to 13 WMAZ. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office determined that the pickup truck driver was traveling at a high rate of 60 miles per hour when they hit the back of the semi-truck.
Deputies said the driver did not press on the brakes prior to the wreck, as no skid marks were found on the road. The impact of the crash had trapped all three occupants. One person died at the scene, and two others were transported to Atrium Health Navicent. There, the two victims lost their lives.
No injuries were reported for the semi-truck driver.
