Pursuit Ends in Head-on Crash in Augusta, Murder Suspect’s Arrest
AUGUSTA, GA – An 18-year-old man, wanted for murder, had crashed head-on into another vehicle during a pursuit Wednesday, which ended in his arrest.
WRDW said the events unfolded around 3 p.m. when the Southeastern US Marshals Fugitive Task Force and Columbia County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team had noticed the man jumping into a white Mitsubishi Mirage driven by another man. Law enforcement attempted to stop the Mitsubishi, but the driver would not stop, prompting a pursuit.
The chase came to a halt when the head-on collision happened at the 3500 block of Tullocks Hill Drive. Columbia County deputies arrested the 18-year-old man and booked him into custody at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center. The man is slated to face several murder charges.
Officials confirmed no one was injured as a result of the crash.
Deputies launched an investigation and have not released other details.
