School Bus Overturns in Crash Caused by Stop Sign Runner in LaGrange
LAGRANGE, GA – A driver of a pickup truck ran a stop sign and struck the side of a school bus, leading the bus to overturn and sending one child and two adults to a hospital Tuesday.
This collision happened around 3:45 p.m. on Mooty Bridge Road, Fox5Atlanta reports. The impact caused the bus to land on its side and the emergency exits to open and the red pickup truck’s front bumper was severely damaged.
LaGrange Police said among the 11 bus occupants — nine children with special needs, a bus aid, and a bus driver — the bus aid and one child were both airlifted to separate hospitals, the kid to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the bus aid to a hospital in Columbus.
In addition, a medical helicopter took the pickup truck driver to Grady Memorial Hospital.
The parents of all the students were made aware of this collision.
As of now, there have been no reports of extrications or pending charges.
