SUV Driver Tailgates Leading to Wreck With Pickup, Semi in Acworth

ACWORTH, GA – A driver of an SUV, who was later cited, was tailgating a pickup truck prior to them hitting a big rig, and the tractor truck then crashed into the pickup Thursday. 

Right after the SUV driver tailgated the pickup, they merged into a different lane on I-75, leading them to strike the side of the tractor-trailer cab and the semi to sideswipe the pickup truck, which then caused the pickup truck to crash into a ditch, according to Atlanta News First. 

Due to this wreck, officials shut down the left lane and emergency lanes to accommodate the scene clearance and investigation process. 

Despite the nature of this crash, with all three vehicles sustaining damage, no occupants involved were harmed in the process. 

Georgia Department of Public Safety’s State Patrol division said they cited the SUV driver for following too closely behind and “failing to maintain a lane.”
