Teen driver charged following triple-fatal crash in Alpharetta
FULTON COUNTY, GA – Authorities have charged an 18-year-old University of Georgia student for his alleged role in a high-speed crash last month in Alpharetta that claimed the lives of three other teens, according to WSB-TV Atlanta 2.
The fatal collision took place on a stretch of Westside Parkway near Maxwell Road and Hembree Road on the evening of Tuesday, May 14.
Investigators found that the suspect was driving a car at a high rate of speed when he lost control, causing the vehicle to flip and come to rest upside-down in a nearby tree line.
Two of his passengers, both 18, were pronounced deceased at the scene. A third passenger, also 18, was rushed to an area hospital where they succumbed to their injuries the following day. Officials have since identified two of the three decedents as fellow UGA students.
The suspect, who was booked into Fulton County Jail early Wednesday, June 26, has been charged with “three counts of vehicular homicide and one count of reckless driving.”
No further details have been shared at this time.
