Tire Failure Causes Truck Crash That Injures Driver in Mount Airy

MOUNT AIRY, GA – A tire detached itself from a F-350 flatbed truck, causing the driver to drift off GA 365 and crash into a tree, injuring herself in the process. 

This solo collision took place before 6:45 p.m. Tuesday near Cody Road, Now Habersham reports. The impact also caused the concrete bricks to fall from the truck, and first responders had to send the driver to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville. 

Officials closed the southbound lanes from 7:40 p.m. to 8:05 p.m. The area has reopened since. 

Authorities have not provided an update on the woman’s condition nor stated whether the driver was cited.
