Update: Officials Confirm More Details About Fatal Cumming Crash
CUMMING, GA – Authorities have released more information concerning the events of a collision involving a high-speed driver that led to a 72-year-old woman’s death Sunday.Â
New details from Atlanta News First showed that the woman was not actually a pedestrian but another driver. The events unfolded when the woman, operating a blue 2014 Toyota Rav4, had proceeded through the GA-400 and Jot ‘Em Down Road intersection, when she had the right of way, and was hit by the high-speed motorist, who drove a black 2019 Ford F-150. The nature of her injuries had shortly led her to her death.Â
Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said that the pickup truck driver’s (a 30-year-old man) speed made it difficult for him to stop, thus resulting in the crash.
Local fire crews were also summoned to the scene to render aid. Medics did not say whether the speeding driver was injured, and authorities did not say what charges the 30-year-old man would face.
Reader’s Note: While the woman’s name was mentioned by Forsyth County authorities and the initial source, our news team has adopted a no-name policy with respect to drivers or victims of motor vehicle accidents or personal injury-related incidents. As such, our news team has chosen not to mention the woman’s name in this news article.Â
