Update: Rear-end wreck with critical injuries closes I-75 near Mt. Paran
NORTH ATLANTA, GA – Georgia State Patrol confirmed that I-75 North near Mt. Paran Road was closed Monday due to a rear-end crash involving a semi that critically injured one person.
The new details from FOX 5 Atlanta revealed the events unfolded when the driver of a gray Jeep Wrangler did not leave much distance between the white semi-truck in front of them, leading them to strike the back of the truck.
Following the crash, the Jeep driver was entrapped and extricated by Atlanta Fire & Rescue before an ambulance driver took them to a local hospital.
The collision happened after 4:20 p.m. Emergency responders shut down all lanes and reopened only one lane nearly an hour later, around 5:30 p.m., to accommodate the flow of traffic before reopening all lanes around 6:30 p.m.
Troopers started an investigation and have not released additional details.
