Wrong-Way Wreck in Atlanta Sends Teen to Hospital, Ends in DUI Arrest
ATLANTA, GA – A wrong-way crash on I-75 near North Avenue ended in a 17-year-old girl getting sent to a hospital and a DUI driver’s arrest Friday.
Just before 3:30 p.m., a 20-year-old woman, driving a 2012 Mercedes-Benz north on the southbound I-75 HOV lane, collided head-on with a 2018 Buick Encore car, according to WSBTV. A Georgia State Patrol trooper tried to prevent the crash, but the attempts were futile.
EMS crews hurried to the scene and took the 17-year-old girl, who rode with the 20-year-old, to a medical facility. There, she received treatment for serious injuries.
Troopers subjected the 20-year-old to a DUI test, which she did not pass. She was booked into the Fulton County Jail. She is facing the following charges: driving on the wrong side of the road, processing a fraudulent driver’s license, underage consumption, serious injury by motor vehicle, and DUI.
Authorities later confirmed the young ladies are Spelman College students.
