Car Turns Left on Red Light, Leading To Injury Crash in Festus
3 hospitalized after U.S. 67, Meyer Road collision
FESTUS, MO – Three people were hospitalized for minor injuries after a collision that was caused by a 70-year-old man who turned left on a red light Thursday.
At approximately 2:05 p.m., the 70-year-old man from Hazelwood was turning from Meyer Road onto U.S. 67 North when he collided with a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. Missouri Highway Patrol said the Toyota driver had hit the back right side of the man’s 2009 Ford Taurus.
The Ford was left with moderate damage, while the Toyota was totaled. No EMS crews were summoned to the scene. All injured parties transported themselves to separate hospitals.
The 70-year-old man’s two passengers — a 24-year-old O’Fallon woman and a 31-year-old St. Louis man — transported themselves to Barnes Jewish Hospital.
The other Toyota driver, a 67-year-old Winfield man, transported himself to Mercy Hospital.
The hurt occupants are recovering from minor injuries.
Troopers did not confirm if they cited the 70-year-old man for failing to yield.
